University of Bridgeport’s BSN degree program will help you develop the advanced skills needed to succeed in any healthcare setting. UB’s faculty of medical experts have extensive knowledge and experience in the field. With their support, you will learn to provide efficient and compassionate care to patients in a variety of medical settings.
In this program, you will learn the skills and knowledge necessary to become an advocate for your patients and their families. You will develop a deeper understanding of patient wellness and quality care by growing your skills in critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and evidence-based practices. During the second semester of your sophomore year, you will begin your clinical experiences. Placement sites may include hospitals, schools, medical offices, and more. All placements include both laboratory and simulation experiences. When you earn your BSN degree, you will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). Passing this examination will qualify you to become a certified registered nurse.

At UB, we will prepare you for a successful career as a registered nurse. Our School of Nursing is home to the innovative Nursing Skills and Simulation Center. Here, you will learn how to care for your future patients using state-of-the-art medical technology. Some key features of the Nursing Skills and Simulation Center include:
- Access to the Laerdal Sim View System and patient simulators (Sim Man 3G and Sim Mom)
- Access to manikins (Nursing Anne, Nursing Kelly, and Nursing Kid with Sim Pad system)
- The Community Health Room, which simulates in-home patient care
- The Debriefing Room, which features a computer control room and two-way mirrors
- A Pyxis machine and console
- 10 total patient beds
- A theater-style lecture hall for a comfortable classroom experience
- Video equipment to record and review your practice sessions
- Welsh-Allen Diagnostic wall units
